Monstera originally grows in dark places of jungle and its stalk stretches around trees. Its leaves have wing-shaped notches and round spots. Its leaves were once thought to exhibit a weakness. However, it has since been revealed that the perforations are advantage. Leaves located at the top of the plant allow light through the leaves, thus allowing lower leaves to also photosynthesize.
