Magic Potion Crystal Ball | Blue Lace Agate | Full Metal Rollerball Necklace

My Potion Bottles are inspired by the elaborate labels often used by Victorian Apothecaries. Magic is one of the most requested in this style. The design was inspired by the alleged Victorian Lachrymose jars. A Lachrymose jar was supposedly a glass vessel used to catch tears, sometimes called a Tear Catcher. Mourning jewelry was highly sought after during this time, however, typical mourning wear of this era was hair jewelry of intricately woven patterns made from treated hair of a loved one passed. There is absolutely no historical documentation that Lachrymose jars were ever actually used. The origins of this myth can be traced to an antiques dealer in the 1920’s who branded several cases of elaborate Victorian-era scent bottles as “Lachrymose Jars.” It is thought that he drew on a reference to an ancient Roman tradition of filling small clay pots with tears of the mourners to leave in the burial mound. This part of the myth is in fact true. Modern testing has since revealed that the alleged Lachrymose jars were no more than beautiful Victorian perfume bottles, but are still considered highly collectable nonetheless and have a fantastic origin story!

The Full Metal Rollerball Necklace is inspired by my love and knowledge of Historical Jewelry, specifically the Victorian Chatelaine. The concept of a Rollerball Necklace or perfume vessel jewelry dates back all the way to ancient Romans. It was later revived and popularized during the Victorian era, worn on what was called a Chatelaine. A Chatelaine was a piece of jewelry with small chains suspending various small tools. These were not just any tools but rather extremely elaborate and decorative pieces; typically thimbles, scissors, notebooks, pencils, and vessels for perfume oils. The most commonly found perfume bottles were either made entirely from metal or encased in metal. I am so so proud to have finally created a true Victorian Chatelaine! It should be noted that all rollers are easily removed from their bottles and many customers have opted to use their necklaces for keepsakes, specimens, and memorials. You can seal your bottles with wax, cork, rubber, or any other seal of your choosing! Your glass will remain forever safe in its metal casing.

Charmed Ones feature charms and castings collected from small artisanal shops and are made with solid sterling silver. This rollerball necklace incorporates two premium double sided hand charms that have been cast especially for my work.

Fringed Rollerball Necklaces feature my signature chain fringe, inspired by the fringe jewelry of the roaring 20’s. Fringe is found in two different styles; either diamond cut chain or bar chain. Each strand is held in perfectly so they’re never out of place! At the end of each chain is a sterling silver star charm and crescent moon focal.

Crystal Ball Rollerball Necklaces feature my signature spheres permanently post-mounted in the style of fine pearls! Each one is drilled by hand so that it can be fitted with the perfect cup and post. This is a popular technique used by other fine jewelers on pearl jewelry, modified to suit my crystal balls. Each crystal ball is doubly reinforced with a sturdy decorative base, creating my unique floating effect. This crystal ball in particular has also been bejeweled with gold/blue Shimmer Swarovski crystals.

The crystal featured on this Rollerball Necklace is Blue Lace Agate. Crystals and stones found within my collections are gem-quality specimens curated by artisanal lapidaries and family operated mines. These crystals were curated especially for my rollerball necklaces.

Blue Lace Agates within the Mountain Witch collection are exceptionally rich and banded in shades of pastel pastel blue and indigo. These Blue Lace Agate have been cut and polished by artisans to achieve their beautiful crystalline shape. Blue Lace Agate is a very rare crystal because it is actually a variety of blue banded Chalcedony thought to have been completely mined out! A recent discovery of it in South America allowed me the unique opportunity to obtain some of it for you. While you may see Blue Lace Agate this year at the gem shows, sources are finite so get it while you can!! Blue Lace Agate combines the properties of Agate and Chalcedony, which makes it a uniquely calming and peaceful stone. According to metaphysical thought, Blue Lace Agate is the pinnacle stone of communication. It is believed that the oceanic formations found within promote circulation between emotion, energy, and physical. Helping us to connect to our whole being, Blue Lace Agate can aid communication in both a literal and internal sense.
