Description

Fairy Lace was inspired by the artworks and designs indicative of the art nouveau movement. Art Nouveau was most popular from 1890 – 1910. It was often inspired by natural forms such as the sinuous curves of plants and flowers. One major objective of Art Nouveau was to break down the traditional distinction between fine arts (especially painting and sculpture) and applied arts. It was most widely used in interior design, graphic arts, furniture, glass art, textiles, ceramics, metal work, and jewelry. In true Art Nouveau fashion the inspiration behind my chosen design is Polypore Mushrooms. To highlight the natural beauty of a polypore formation, I have chosen the Art Nouveau style similar to Alphonse Mucha. Polypores are a group of fungi that form large fruiting bodies with gills on the underside. Most polypores inhabit tree trunks or branches consuming the wood, but some soil-inhabiting species form interconnected systems with trees. Polypores play a very significant role in the nutrient cycling and carbon dioxide production of forest ecosystems. There are over a thousand known species of polypores but many have yet to be discovered. Polypores are much more diverse in old natural forests with abundant dead wood than in plantations or younger managed forests. Due to logging and deforestation a number of species have declined drastically and are under threat of extinction.

  • This design has been paired with an incredible Black Australian Boulder Opal. Opal is a mineraloid, meaning it is neither crystal nor mineral but rather a special subclass of silicate with a high water content. Not all Opals exhibit a rainbow color play but precious gemstone does. This unique rainbow effect is made only possible by it’s unusual mineraloid structure. The rarest of all Australian Opal (which is already considered very rare and valuable) is Black Opal, coming from only one region in the entire world. Charmed Ones feature charms and castings collected from small artisanal shops and are made with solid sterling silver. This rollerball necklace incorporates a stunning twig casting.

Rollerball Necklaces are coupled with a sterling silver chain that is customized to your preferred length. Chains feature a .925 diamond cut. Necklaces arrive with a roller since oils are the most common use but are entirely optional. You can fill your bottles with whatever you like! Many customers have opted to use their necklaces for keepsakes, specimens, or memorials.  Bottles are photographed with an inert carrier for demonstration only, essential oils are not included. Rollerball necklaces are refillable and coupled with a refill/care kit. If you would like to purchase more bottles in other sizes or colors find glass bottles here or consider adding extra crystal energy with a gemstone roller bottle here.
